HUD income limits

Income limits are set at the county level by HUD each year. Properties use 30%, 50%, or 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) to determine eligibility.

To look up your county's limits, visit huduser.gov or search for a specific property listing to see limits relevant to that location.

Quick guide:
  • 30% AMI — Extremely low income
  • 50% AMI — Very low income (most Section 8)
  • 60% AMI — Low income (most LIHTC)
  • 80% AMI — Low income (some programs)
