Most government housing programs require households to be at or below a certain percentage of the Area Median Income (AMI).
General eligibility rules
- Section 8 HCV: at or below 50% AMI
- Public Housing: at or below 80% AMI
- LIHTC: at or below 60% AMI
- Section 202/811: at or below 50% AMI
Citizenship or eligible immigration status is generally required. Contact your local Public Housing Authority for full eligibility criteria.
